A wonderful challenge hosted by my fellow belarusian illustrators over at IG to make a picture for each of 5 famous legends of my homeland. I chose to make a line-up of connected illustrations about Stasia and her pet goat. Please enjoy 🤍❤️🤍
Fern Blossom. While celebrating Kupalle (kind of belarusian Midsommar) Stasia finds a beautifully blooming fern and decides
to pick flowers to add to her wreath. Magic flower grants her ability to speak animal language and see ghosts 👻
Lion's Grave. Stasia herded her little goat on a meadow on the outskirts of Mahiljow. She noticed the hill was actually a burial mound and
man in it seemed very sad and lonely, so she made him a little wreath to cheer him up.
Wild Hunt. Stasia is returning home on the dreary autumn evening. Fog is gathering in the hollows.
It takes shape of ghostly riders in old-fashioned gowns, that stride silently not touching ground.
They are said to be a very bad omen.
Oak of Bethrotal. In the lord's park by the river there's a great old oak. Stasia knows there's something magical about it.
She wanders off and dances around with Mal'ka, bowing to the tree jokingly. Mal'ka is her very best friend after all.
Black Panna of Neswizh. When bringing old lady of the castle her evening tea, Stasia hears glass break and distant crying.
They say second floor is haunted but no one has seen Panna for many years. Something bad is going to happen to us, innit?
